About the Digital Assets Committee

COMMUNITY ACTION PLAN

Who We Are

The Digital Assets Community is an inter-disciplinary statewide industry community of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYCPA).  The community acts as a resource to NYCPA members regarding technical, accounting, and regulatory issues in the quickly developing field of cryptocurrency and blockchain.

What We Do

The Community’s objectives include but are not limited to:

·   Providing continuing professional education and presentation opportunities by conducting educational conferences and technical sessions in coordination with the Foundation for Accounting Education (FAE).  Topics will cover not just accounting, but also finance, legal, regulatory, and blockchain technology and implementation.

·   Addressing questions from NYCPA members.

·   Monitoring new accounting rules and legislation related to cryptocurrency and financial technology.

·   Offering opportunities to provide comments on proposed new domestic and international standards, exposure drafts, pronouncements or similar documents, as well as implementation and interpretive guidance.

·   Affording networking and discussion opportunities of current topics at community meetings and educational sessions.

·   Disseminating information through articles and presentations.

·   Partnering with other related NYCPA communities to share information and knowledge.

Who Should Join

All NYCPA members interested in learning more about cryptocurrency and blockchain, as well as those who would like to help shape the cryptocurrency and financial technology regulatory landscape going forward.  CPAs and non-CPAs and representative of regulatory and standard setting agencies are encouraged to join.
