The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) is the oldest state
accounting association in the nation. Incorporated in 1897, the NYSSCPA operates the following 14 regional chapters: Adirondack, Buffalo, Mid- Hudson, Manhattan/Bronx, Nassau, Northeast,
Queens/Brooklyn, Rochester, Rockland, Southern Tier, Staten Island, Suffolk, Syracuse and
Westchester.
The Society has a 39-member board of directors and more than 60 technical and operative committees that fall into seven major divisions: Accounting and Auditing, Consulting Services, Industry, Operations, Practice Management, Public Sector and Tax. Each regional chapter has its own board of directors. The administrative operations are under the direction of the Executive Director, assisted by a professional staff of about 60.
The Foundation for Accounting Education, Inc. (FAE), the NYSSCPA’s educational arm produces continuing professional education (CPE) conferences, seminars, and technical courses, in person and online across the state to keep members abreast of the latest developments in the profession, in areas such as taxation, healthcare, estate and financial planning and other specialized areas.
