Help Amplify the CPA Voice in Albany and Become a PAC Trustee or Delegate
The NYSSCPA PAC Board of Trustees and its delegates play an important role in further the needs of the profession with state policymakers. More information about the PAC and its activities can be found at the PAC webpage here.
The NYSSCPA PAC is controlled by its seven-member board of trustees, which is comprised of the NYSSCPA President, NYSSCPA President-elect and five regional representatives. The five regional representatives are elected by the five regional delegates.
The five regions that serve as the basis for the trustees and delegates are defined in the NYSSCPA PAC Bylaws as:
- Long Island shall consist of the Nassau and Suffolk chapters
- New York City shall consist of the Manhattan/Bronx, Queens/Brooklyn, and Staten Island chapters
- Western New York shall consist of the Buffalo, Rochester and Southern Tier chapters
- Hudson Valley shall consist of the Mid-Hudson, Rockland and Westchester chapters
- Upstate shall consist of the Adirondack, Northeast, Syracuse and Utica chapters
The terms of trustees and delegates are for five years, and are staggered so that each year one region will elect a new trustee and delegate. The NYSSCPA PAC Board of Trustees hold regular meetings throughout the year to administer the property, affairs and activities of the NYSSCPA PAC. NYSSCPA PAC Delegates meet once a year typically via a conference call to elect a new trustee. This is the only role of the delegates. In order to serve as a delegate or a trustee, you must by a CPA member of the NYSSCPA and have donated to the PAC in the current calendar year. There is no minimum donation amount that is required.
The selection of PAC delegates is typically handled by the board of directors for the chapters comprising a region. If you wish to become a PAC delegate, please contact a member of your chapter’s board of directors and indicate you would like to be considered.
