The Foundation for Accounting Education of the New York State Society of CPAs is governed by a 7-member board of trustees that includes two officers: the president and the secretary/treasurer. The secretary/treasurer of the Society automatically serves as the secretary/treasurer of FAE as well. The trustees’ three-year terms are evenly staggered, so two vacancies occur each year.
FAE trustees typically meet six times a year to discuss the business of the foundation. One of those meetings is held at the Society’s Governance Forum. The FAE trustees are responsible for approval of the FAE budget, setting the general direction for educational programs. In November 2009, the Society’s Benevolent Fund was merged into the FAE. If there is an application for benefits, FAE Trustees would be responsible for evaluating such requests. There is no compensation for service on the FAE board.
